It seems like Hollywood only show movies where moms deliver in the taxi or loud screaming on their back on the hospital bed. Let’s be honest, there is a lot of negativity about childbirth in our society. Hypnobirthing will help you to change these negative perceptions about childbirth and even turn them into positive birth experience. In short, the Hypnobirthing course is a pre-natal training program designed to release fear and build confidence during birth. It is simple, logical and profound.
One part of hypnobirthing is the “hypno-part”. Let me be honest, you are not the only one who looks very skeptical right now! You have images of being completely zoned out or deep asleep? Doing embarrassing things? My teacher used to joke that the worst part about hypnobirthing is the name. The truth is you learn some self-hypnosis technique which will bring you into a light trance, which is similar to the stage between being awake and asleep. You are still conscious and aware, but deeply relaxed. You either listen to a CD or to your partner reading the relaxations scripts to you during your pregnancy before you go into labour. They are lovely relaxations and you can just listen to them before you want to sleep – and even fall asleep while listening to them. So it is not such hard work as it might sounds like.
Apart from the “hypno-part”, hypnobirthing is about getting to know facts and information about labour and birth, which you need to release fear and learn to trust your body, your instinct, and your baby. You will understand your body, your hormones and the birth process better. You will get lots of tips and knowledge and of course learn breathing techniques.
All this small things put together, will help you to change your perception about birth.
